As the most social species on the planet, it is important for us to feel as though we belong and are cared about. This includes experiencing being included, appreciated, liked, valued and loved by other people. In fact, it is as important as oxygen is to our body.

The challenge with living such busy lives these days, people can end up feeling numb from the neck down. In other words, knowing that others care about them but not feeling this internally.

As people feel confident in their self worth, they tend to become more modest, humble and less contentious. Relationships improve as a result and conflict decreases because the mind moves out of being in high alert for rejection and more able to see the different perspectives of the situation.
